Divine French Apple Cobbler

5 Cups chopped apples
3/4 Cup sugar
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup water
1 Tbsp butter, softened
*combine ingredients and pour into buttered 9-inch square pan. Dot with butter.

Cobbler crust:
1/2 c flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
**combine ingredients. beat with spoon until batter is smooth. Spoon batter in 9 portions, over the apples, spacing evenly. The batter sill spread out during baking.

Bake 35-40 minutes at 375 or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Enjoy warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream YUM YUM!!
